Flavor & seasoning: Does it taste bold and satisfying? Does it taste like what the label promises?
Bite: Is it crisp or crunchy, and what kind—airy and light, or dense with a full-on hard bite?
Mess factor: Seasoning powder, sugar, choco smears, grease and all—how much of it ends up on your fingers instead of in your mouth?
Snackability: Is it easy to keep eating one after another, or does it get tiring fast (nakakaumay)?
Craveability: Does it stick with you once the bag’s finished, or is it forgettable the moment you're done eating? Would you get more on your next grocery run?
Fine Print
The Lineup: We tested 10 Oishi snacks from major supermarkets, convenience stores, and groceries nationwide.
Why We're Doing This: Oishi snacks have been part of Filipino snacking for decades: Prawn Crackers on road trips, Pillows during study sessions, both just as easy to reach for during casual snacking at home. The best part? They're conveniently available across sari-sari stores, convenience stores, and supermarkets. Here's the thing: Oishi’s snack catalog is 40+ variants deep, and we're willing to bet no one's made it through all of them! So we're setting out to do just that. This is an ongoing map of the entire Oishi catalog, snack by snack, to see what shines, which underrated ones deserve more love, and where everything lands.
How We Tasted: Each snack was sampled straight from the pack, the way most people actually eat it.
How We Scored: Each snack was evaluated across 3 criteria. Final placements reflect the Pepper team's averaged impressions.
Transparency: No brand paid for inclusion in this taste test.
