You’ll Be Dancing the Night to Earth, Wind, and Fire after a Few of These Grape and Glitter Cocktails

September 21, 2019

Yup, today is the day encapsulated in that iconic Earth, Wind, and Fire track. So, as a tribute, we developed a Saturday night cocktail recipe so you can (not) remember dancing in September. Oh, did we mention that it’s purple? And that it shimmers? *guy dancing in purple retro costume emoji*

Ba de ya!

This drink is as sweet as the song—no, really. The flavor of the grape juice masks the tequila, so be careful. It’s one of those cocktails that don’t taste like alcohol, making it easy to keep tipping back. If you want to add a little extra something, skewer a few grapes, roll it into the same sugar you put along the rim of your glass, then top it on there.

Grape and Glitter Cocktail

  • Serves: 2 people
  • Active time: 10 mins
  • Total time: 10 mins
  • Difficulty: Easy

Sugar Rim

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 drop purple food coloring
  • 1 tsp. silver edible glitter

Grape Cocktail

  • ¼ cup grapes
  • 3 oz. tequila
  • 6 oz. grape juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup, or to taste if grape juice is sweetened
  • Soda water

  1. In a small bowl, mix together white sugar, food coloring, and edible glitter.
  2. Line the rims of two glasses with the purple sugar.
  3. Evenly divide grapes into two glasses.
  4. Muddle grapes to release juice until no big pieces remain.
  5. Fill the glasses with ice, then evenly divide and pour grape juice (if using simple syrup, stir into grape juice before pouring) in the glasses, followed by the tequila.
  6. Top with soda water before serving.
