Trust Us, You’d Love to Make Out with These Fruitsicles This SummerApril 22, 2015

Remember those conjoined orange popsicles you used to stick inside your mouth as a child during those hot, hot Metro Manila summers? Well, you probably still do that now but won’t admit it, but one thing remains to be true—this heat is freaking insane. If I were a slab of pork left out for 9 hours under this horrendous heat, I’d probably be blistered up right now in true crispy pata fashion, my skin crackling and maybe even sporting a bit of char. Or we can poke fun at chocolate by leaving out a bar for an hour and you’ll end up with the silkiest magic shell straight from the foil wrapper.
But back to those orange popsicle sticks (that come in chocolate flavor, too, by the way). As we’ve grown older, we started to trade the nostalgic ice pops for more ‘sophisticated’ and ‘grown up’ cold treats such as a fancy soft-serves, granitas, and even sorbets—not because of our fluctuating taste preferences, but more of not wanting to be seen in public licking melted sugary water from our wrist up.
Our friend Ian Carandang from Sebastian’s tipped us off about these new Fruitsicles he was carrying this summer, and given the heat, how could we resist? See, this is the sort of thing that will make you smile, tempting you with loud, colorful layers (all 30 of them) of pure bliss that was made with the actual thing—and you’ll know it! No semblance of just sugary water whatsoever. Fill an inflatable pool with these ice pops and let me bathe in it, please.
Rainbow, Sunshine, and Berrylicious pops are intensely packed with so much flavor, it almost feels like you were sucking the juice out of frozen fruit. There are still stray fleshy bits of strawberry and its gritty seeds in the pops, adding a satisfying bite because you know you’re dealing with the real thing here.
If you ever fancied a handheld halo-halo, then the popsicle gods have heard your prayer. See that white stripe? That’s real buko. If you want something on the milkier side, the Grizzly Bar (how cute, right?) comes in an alternating frenzy of white chocolate, cookie butter, Nutella, and Milk Chocolate. This doesn’t sound anything fruit-related at all, but Ian says that cacao is a fruit, so he’s sticking to that.
Each Fruitsicle retails at PHP 85 a pop, and trust me, you would love to make out with these ice pops these summer. Grab one at a Sebastian’s branch nearest you.
