It Isn’t All About The Ceviche: Patricio’s Queso Crema is Pretty Darn GoodOctober 21, 2015

We’ve always believed that Patricio’s was one gem of a restaurant. Serving delicious ceviches, this teeny establishment along Bayani Road in Taguig has become our go-to restaurant if the craving for some fresh catch cooked in their homemade vinegars and citrus mixes kicks in.
But let’s keep their main offering on the side for a minute and talk about this one helluva dessert that we can’t get enough of: Patricio’s Queso Crema. Made from scratch, this cheesy cream cake is laced with a shiny butter cream sauce. It plays on salty and sweet flavors, and is intensely reminiscent of the beloved Peter’s Butter Ball nuanced by a sharp hint of cheese.
What we love to do with Patricio’s Queso Crema is to let is sit in the fridge—the longer the cake soaks in the butter, the better it gets—and then pop it in the microwave for 5 seconds on medium heat. Pairing this with some vanilla bean ice cream would be such a treat, but we feel that the the way this cake is so simple and low maintenance makes it such a hit in itself.
Another spin on this cake is the Mango Crema, which is more on the fruity, tropical side. It tastes less sinful than the Queso Cream, but don’t let this alleviate your guilt. It is equally addictive, and the next thing you know, you’ve already wiped the pan clean. (Of course, this was what happened when we were spooning heaps of the stuff into our windpipes.)
Since the holidays are just around the corner, this would make as the most fitting dessert to bring to your feasts—or keep some for your personal stash. Whatever the reason, you’ve got an excellent dessert in your possession.
