These Two Flavors from Adam’s Seriously Good Ice Cream Seriously Blew Our Minds AwayMarch 6, 2020

As I feel my already-tight clothes bursting at the seams after shoving down oodles of grub from Legaspi Sunday Market, I always make a silent vow to never eat more than I can actually stomach. It is, after all, a Sunday. Monday is just around the corner and it’s the perfect day of the week to renew diet commitments and promise one’s self to ‘eat better’. But after the silent vows have been made, I still (and almost without fail) find myself salivating over Adam’s Ice Cream. It is hard to choose a flavor.
With variants like a cheeky ‘Chiqui Monkey’, a decadent combination of dark chocolate, homemade organic peanut butter, and bananas, or a more sophisticated ‘Figgy Blue’, trust me, I’ve gone through numerous inner debates about which to get, but a couple of recent discoveries have gotten me locked on which flavors to get next weekend: The Lemon Dream and The First Lady’s Fantasy (a not-so-recent flavor, but a new favorite).
The Lemon Dream is a tropical melange of citrus and coconut. Dairy-free and made with pure coconut milk, this eases the guilt a bit, but then after inhaling a whole serving, I’m not so sure anymore. It’s refreshing and reminiscent of a pina colada, but in a form that I appreciate so much better.
The First Lady’s Fantasy was originally made for former First Lady Imelda Marcos, “who needed something diabetically suitable,” said Adam himself when I asked about it. While he says they take no political position, it now fights with the Ambassador’s Butter Cream as the #1 bestseller. Made with chocolates from West Africa that are pure and unsweetened, Adam told me that they mixed in some local organic coco sugar and a touch of honey to make this chocolate ice cream a tough one to beat.
Too much can definitely bad for the waistline, but Adam’s Ice Cream definitely makes for a somewhat healthier alternative that’s bang for your buck in terms of flavor and quality. Now that they’re also in the Salcedo Market every Saturday, I can get a double fill of Adam’s Ice Cream during the weekend and worry about fitting into my jeans on Monday.
