Wolfgang’s Steakhouse From Peter Luger Alum Set to Open in ManilaOctober 14, 2014

Next year, the SumoSam group of restaurants is slated to add another international chain, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, to their growing empire. Though the group made their mark by opening several homegrown concept restaurants, they have recently set their focus on bringing foreign brands to our shores, including Teddy’s Bigger Burgers from Hawaii, and now, the famous steakhouse chain. Set up by former Peter Luger alum of 40 years, Wolfgang Zweiner. After leaving the famed establishment, Zweiner decided to improve upon the concept, and since his first restaurant opened in 2004, has proven to be successful. The way Wolfgang’s does their meat is by dry-aging them, and finishing them in the oven, a trademark of Peter Luger. With locations across North America, and one in Tokyo thus far, the chain has gained quite a reputation, which some have said have even approved on the original.
The first branch in Manila will open next year in Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila, beside Republiq, a space where more high-end concepts are rumored to open, including Sugar Factory from Las Vegas. One must wonder if the price points will be friendly to Filipino customers, and if the high quality the restaurants boast will translate to their branch in Manila. If it remains consistent, this will be an exciting addition to our dining scene indeed, because Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, when on the mark, does their steaks exceptionally well.
