The Wendy’s Salad Bar is Back, but is It Really That Exciting?August 10, 2014

Wendy’s Philippines’ Salad Bar used to be prevalent in their branches until it was phased out in the late nineties. Now, Wendy’s has brought it back to their branches in SM Megamall, EDSA Boni, SM Centerpoint Mall Sta. Mesa, SM North EDSA Annex, Glorietta 4, and Greenfield.
Available at the bar are red jello, green jello, grated cheese, slices of hard-boiled egg, shredded carrots, cucumbers, salad greens, macaroni, potato chunks with bacon bits and caesar, thousand island, and vinaigrette dressing. Ingredients are kept fresh with an in-bar cooling system.
While you can go nuts with what they have, the Salad Bar is only for one serving, with no take-out allowed for the price of PHP 199. That’s a hefty price to pay for a single serve, considering that SRP for a large Goolai salad is around PHP 170 with just as much, if not more, toppings. Wendy’s also has salads on their menu for dine-in and take out in variants of Macaroni, Taco, Chicken Caesar, and Garden, priced at PHP 149 for a big serving, and PHP 49 for a side salad portion. Is PHP 199 really worth it for customizing and stacking up a salad?
