This Pop-Up Stall outside Tonkatsuya in Creekside Mall Serves Takoyaki Made Using All-Japanese IngredientsAugust 3, 2019
Tonkatsuya is known for its cheap, no-frills katsu sets. But their branch in Creekside Mall is giving you another reason to keep coming back: takoyaki. They make it using ingredients from Japan, apart from the water (duh) and the octopus, which they have delivered from Cartimar. Their version doesn’t have any vegetables. Instead, they add lots of tempura flakes into the batter for the crunch.
There are three variants: tako (classic), cheese, and (Japanese) spam. For only PHP170, you get eight heavy pieces that are crisp on the outside, yet soft and gooey on the inside. Each order is made fresh each time, and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get done. So call ahead if you want them to prepare it for you in advance.
