The Cold Brew Round-Up: Find the Cool Brew That Fits You

Cold-brewed coffees have been around for quite some time now and it’s easy to see why people like them so much. It is, plainly put, the hip younger brother of iced coffee. “Sup brew? I was cool even before you had ice put on you!” The difference, apart from the obvious temperature change, is the way in which it’s rendered.

While traditional coffees require hot water, the slow process of steeping the grounds, often pegged at a 12 hour-long drip, gives the brew a different flavor profile since it’s not subjected to any heat. This, in turn, delivers higher caffeine content to the drink, giving it that extra buzz. So to help you decide on which cold one you ought to be having, here are some of Manila’s cooler brews.



This eight hour cold brew is born from the Luna brew, a combination of beans from Kenya, Columbia, and Sumatra. Despite being light, the drink is complex, brought about by the different beans used and finishes with nutty notes.

The folks at Yardstick have encapsulated the essence of cold brew in their drink. The brew, though slightly acidic on the palate, is robust and goes down smoothly without eliminating the flavor of the beans, which come from Cerrado, Brazil.
