Take Karne Norte from Breakfast to Dinner with These Three Recipes

In times like these, it’s handy to keep recipes for canned goods in your pocket. We’ve partnered with CDO Karne Norte to give you three Filipino favorite dishes that you can easily use Karne Norte in, and have it for more than just breakfast.

Karne Norte and Potato Hash

A classic Filipino way of cooking corned beef, this hash recipe extends your can by adding potatoes, which you can easily find in the supermarket. This way of cooking the beef also highlights the distinct guisado flavor of CDO Karne Norte, making it incredibly comforting.

Yield: 2-4 servings | Time: 30 minutes

  • 2 150g can CDO Karne Norte
  • 1/2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 medium potato, cubed
  • 1 tsp chili flake, optional

  1. In a pan over medium heat, add the oil.
  2. Add the cubed potatoes and cook until tender, about 5-8 minutes.
  3. Add the can of CDO Karne Norte and cook until slightly dry, about 5 minutes more.
  4. Season with chili, if using, then serve with rice.

Karne Norte Loaded Fries

Whether it be for snack or for lunch, Filipinos love eating fries loaded with toppings. Take CDO Karne Norte and pile it on top of your favorite style of fries (we cut our own, but you can use whatever’s readily available). The fine beef strands make it easy to pile on your potatoes. Add as many toppings as you wish, but we recommend some dressing and fresh chili to go with the karne norte.

Yield: 2-4 servings | Time: 1 hour

  • 1 150g can CDO Karne Norte
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. thousand island dressing or ketchup
  • 1 sliced green chili

  1. Preheat oven/toaster oven to 425F.
  2. Cut potatoes into wedges, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Sprinkle the cut fries with cornstarch, and toss evenly to coat.
  4. Toss the cornstarch-coated fries in the oil evenly, then spread out onto baking sheets.
  5. Make sure the fries are in a single layer and do not touch, to ensure that they get crispy.
  6. Place fries in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping the fries halfway.
  7. Remove fries from oven and season with salt and pepper.
  8. While fries are in the oven, cook CDO Karne Norte in a pan until cooked through.
  9. Set aside.
  10. To assemble, place fries on a platter. Top with CDO Karne Norte, mayo, dressing, and green chili.
  11. Serve.

Chili con Karne Norte

Everybody has their own distinct way of cooking chili con carne, so why not try making it your own with Karne Norte? Mix your favorite type of beans, whether garbanzo or kidney, to add a distinct crunch to the dish. The flavorful aromas of CDO Karne Norte really come out in this recipe.
