S&R Opens Actual Restaurant Based on Their Popular NY Style Pizzas

July 30, 2014

S&R Membership Shopping is a supermarket haven for imported and limited-edition goods, snacks, and other products. Their food service corner has become a favorite for their New York style Pizzas, Clam Chowder, Hotdogs, Calzones, Churros, Burgers, Salads and more at reasonable prices, and is a pleasant finishing touch after a few hours in the grocery. A number of customers have made the stop just for their food service, but is it popular enough to serve as a stand-alone eatery? S&R looks to find out with the opening of S&R New York Style Pizza place in Ayala Fairview Terraces.

The eatery is open to the public, but card-carrying S&R members may avail of a 5% discount with their orders. It looks the same without the grocery area, with its signature white walls and blue tables and chairs. The menu is what you’d would find in any S&R food service, but with Southern Fried Chicken only, leaving out S&R’s Roast Chicken. They removed the option for bottomless drinks, but have a selection of coffee on the menu. It really is what one would expect from an S&R eatery, but in an unexpected location.

Ayala Fairview Terraces is the area’s newest mall, having opened just last February, and situated right beside Robinsons Nova Market and across SM Fairview. It clearly aims to cater to a more upscale audience, with shops such as Wellworth Department Store and Old Navy on its roster.

Now the staff has to ask, “Why there?” The first S&R New York Style Pizza Branch is tucked away in Puregold Cubao, but that location makes sense as it also draws the post-grocery crowd.

As of writing there is no indication of a full-fledged S&R Membership Shopping branch to open anywhere near Ayala Fairview Terraces, but is this branch of S&R New York Style Pizza testing ground to see if there’s an audience? Or maybe because it is S&R’s answer to Costco opening a pizza shop in Glorietta?

Would you go to Ayala Fairview Terraces for S&R’s pizza? Do you think there should be more branches of S&R’s Food Service? Let us know what you think with a comment below.

Could be part of the JV grocery deal between Ayala Malls and Puregold.

The S&R in my neck of the woods is always packed with office workers looking for cheap eats on lunch hour on weekdays. I can see why S&R thinks it’s a good idea to put up a standalone food branch. No rotisserie chicken though, is shocking.

  4. hehehe says:

There’s also a standalone S&R eatery inside Puregold SBMA. It is usually packed with patrons ordering the P99 combo meals.

  5. miloy says:

the have this at puregold cubao for almost 3 years already. they used to have a special promo of P99 for either a cheeseburger combo (cheeseburger, softdrink and fries), hotdog combo (same as the burger) and pizza combo (with just sofdrinks with a slice of pizzza).

  21. Costco Pizza is not anymore opening in Glorietta. It is replaced by The Pizza Warehouse instead. It is pretty much the same concept. The franchisees here probably did not get to cement the deal with Costco.

As a student in Manila, my friends and all the people we know love S&R’s food. Please put one in the university belt. Best in between UST and FEU. It will be a BIG HIT.
