Oats are a natural source of iron
Among all the many nutrients and vitamins naturally found in the supergrain, iron is probably one of the most important. As a mineral, iron is necessary for immunity: oats help create white blood cells which are our body’s defense system. Iron is also an important component of haemoglobin, which helps red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to everywhere else.
Why is iron so important to the immune system?
A lack of iron compromises your body’s defenses. It also means your red blood cells can’t carry oxygen efficiently, leading to diseases such as iron deficiencies and anaemia. Iron preserves a ton of vital functions in your body, so a lack of it means you’re more prone to fatigue, lose focus, and your skin, nails, and hair aren’t as healthy. On the more serious side, it can even affect your brain’s ability to help your immune system battle infections.

Oats can reduce cholesterol, provide antioxidants, regulate blood sugar, and help with constipation and digestion. The grain is high in a soluble fiber called beta-glucan, and contains antioxidants that are unique to oats alone.
