Addi says: “It’s one of the best things you’ll ever eat in Cebu. It’s sweet and spicy, best dipped in vinegar and soy sauce and eaten with a tub of hot rice and some cold beer. Makes me hungry just thinking about it now.”

Adee says: “Imagine it as Jollibee’s Ultimate Burger Steak, only a hundred times better. Umami’s burger steaks are always juicy, fresh and cooked just right, which is why I keep coming back for them.”

Pacific Baby Squid from Cyma (PHP 220)

Diana says: The cook on the baby squid was spot on, similar to al dente pasta. The dish was light and fresh and sort of addicting.

Kat says: “This had the crispiest and crunchiest coating I have ever had on Korean chicken. I wish there was a lot more of the glaze, though, because I wanted more of that salty-sweet contrast.”

Lars says: “It’s so addicting, it’s almost like cra—oh, now I get it.”

Shrimp Pad Thai from Oody’s (PHP 240)

Mikka says: “The pad thai was great, but there were only two pieces of shrimp. TWO. I didn’t think it was worth the upgrade from the normal pad thai. Or we should’ve gone with the chicken instead.”

Chorizo & Cheese Stuffed Chicken from Patio Vera (PHP 295)


Location : General F. Santos St., Calumpang, Marikina

Nico says : “It was a bit dry, but just enough to give you some resistance when you bite into it. I have to say, though, that it was seasoned very well. The chorizo also gave it that added meaty and smoky flavor, and nobody ever went wrong with using cheese, so it was a nice meal. Hopefully they’ll keep the bird a bit juicier next time.”

Chocolat Orange from Zaifu (PHP 140)


Location: Concourse Level, The Power Plant Rockwell, Makati

Serna says: “Despite having seven layers, this dessert was quite light and fluffy and not at all dense. This was also clearly sweetened with a light hand, with subtle (perhaps too subtle) nuances of orange flavoring. All in all, it’s a great finish for a light Japanese lunch.”

    I’m not quite sure how Chicken And Beer is related to BBQ Chicken, but they seem to have the same menu (with prices slightly lower at the latter).
