Addi says: “Extremely tender beef shank, nice tart stew topped with gremolata, and a perfect saffron risotto. This is exactly why I don’t like sharing my food.”

Tantanmen Ramen from Ukkokei Ramen Ron (PHP 380)

Location: Tesoro Bldg., A. Arnaiz Ave., San Lorenzo, Makati

Adee says: “The soup definitely lived up to the hype. Every sip was packed with savory, nutty, spicy goodness. I can’t say the same for the noodles, though. It definitely wasn’t freshly made, as the taste and texture revealed it as the instant variety. But I’m still giving this a high mark as the soup is neck and neck with my other favorite Tantanmen.”

Death by Tablea from Chocolat (PHP 80 per slice)

Location: Xavierville, Quezon City

Diana says: “Not much of a chocolate fan (gasps) but this cake had just the right amount of sweet cake and bitter tablea that aptly made a chocolate cake fan out of me. And the place is good for coffee camping too!”

Tomato Cream Soup from Paris Délice (PHP 90)

Location: Juno st. corner Makati Avenue

Kat says: “Perfectly balanced between the bright flavor of the tomatoes and richness of the cream. This is my favorite tomato soup anywhere.”

Steak Sandwich from Army Navy (PHP 235)

Location: C’mon, dude. Do you really need me to tell you where to find an Army Navy?

Lars says: “Not enough meat. Too many food truck specials on the lifestyle network has burdened me with unrealistic expectations on how much filling a steak sandwich ought to have.”

French Toast from Starbucks (PHP 95 for 2 slices of bread)

Location: Any Starbucks branch, but this particular one is in Greenbelt 1 in case you’re wondering.

Mikka says: “Definitely one of the best I’ve had, surprisingly. Thinly coated with just the right crisp and goes so well with the butter and syrup. I find this to be better than UCC’s.”

Rating: 8.5/10

Nolita Burger from Nolita PHP 420

Location: Bonifacio High Street Central

Mylene says: “This is one really good burger. Every bite will have beef juices seeping out in your mouth. Though the blue cheese does overpower the beef a little, it made the whole dish flavorful all the same!”

Gomoku-Nanban Ramen from Tamagoya Noodle House (PHP 198)

Location: VV Soliven Ave., Mayamot, Anitpolo City

Nico says: “You’ll definitely get your fill of seafood from this ramen. The broth is thick and spicy, and has a very deep seafood flavor, kind of like a hot pot. It’s got plenty of veggies and assorted seafood sticks and fish balls to boot. A bit sweet, though, for my taste, but a definite win for seafood lovers.”

Rating: 7/10

Ferrero Chocolate Buchi from IMC Kavino (PHP 128 for three pieces)

Location: G/F Jupiter Place, Jupiter St., Makati

Serna says: “Whoever came up with the idea of wrapping Ferrero chocolate truffles in glutinous rice dough, coating it with sesame seeds, then deep-frying it to a crisp can be my Valentine any day. These monstrous, gooey, Atkins-diet nightmare bonbons should be illegal. Seriously.”

    This would be the first time I’d go against the review — goes out to Mikka’s rating on SB’s french toast. I’m no french toast expert but I’d rate it (or probably just the one I had) a 5. After I saw the staff holding a package (ready to heat/eat kind of packaging) with my french toast inside, my excitement went down. BUT if I didn’t see the before of that french toast, it would be a different story.

    Ang arte ko hahaha. I’d give it another try. 🙂

      did they like drop it on the floor or do something to turn you off? 🙂 I’m pretty sure most starbucks branches here don’t have a stove to cook one in, so the packages may be necessary.

          Just think of it this way na lang: they’re THAT good and are even better than some that are freshly made and served straight out of the pan. 🙂
          I mean, come on. It’s Starbucks. NONE of the food there is made fresh on site.

      Lol. Saw this just now!! Really?? That sucks ah! 🙁 The one I tried in Greenbelt was really good naman 🙂 I think, just like in all branched out cafes, it depends on how the product is handled. I’m sorry yours was a disappointment, Maureen! 🙁
