PHP 240 Lamb Chops and a Drooling Burger in Today’s Pepper Eats

Pink Velvet Cupcake (Lower Left and Upper Right) from Larcy’s Cupcakery Cafe (PHP 65)

Addi: It was no different from the typical red velvet aside from the pink foil wrapper. Also, maybe it’s called pink velvet instead of red velvet because the cupcake base and frosting lacked richness. I just want my red velvet dark, heavy, rich, perfectly salty, creamy, and sour. Is that too much to ask?

Tantanmen Ramen from Nomama (around PHP 360)

Adee says: “The balance of flavors in the thick, textured soup are good but a bit on the bland side. While I prefer my Tantanmen to be bolder, sweeter and creamier than this, I do love the firmness of the noodles, the poached egg and chopped pork. Worth a try for any Tantanmen fan.”

House Burger from Sandwicheese (PHP 170)

Diana says: “I’m not really a fan of burgers but this one tastes so good, the burger itself is drooling.”

Double of Cappuccino & Bourbon Butterscotch Pecan from Bono Gelato (PHP 225)

Kat says: I now understand the hype about Bono. What struck me the most was the texture of the gelato: it was smooth, silky, compact, creamy, and unlike any other ice cream I’ve had in a while. It helps, too, that there’s actual bourbon in the ice cream (although I wish there was more pecan). It’s probably a good thing it’s so expensive, or I’d have this more often.

Sizzling Lamb Chops from Mr. Kebab (PHP 240)

Lars says: “Mmmm, lamb-y.”

Prosciutto Pizza from Amoroma, Tagaytay (PHP 415)

Mikka says: “Simple and straightforward, this is easily one of the best pizzas you’ll get to try in the country. There’s not a lot of fancy things happening. Just the right amount of cheese, and generous sheets of shiny prosciutto. The crust is a cross between a thin and thick in terms of texture and bite. Very, very delicious.”

Porchetta from Cafe Lidia (PHP 230)

Nico says: “The skin was crispy, and the meat was tender, though a tad dry. It was also lacking in flavor. I really hope this was an off night since the dish held so much potential.”

Rating: 5/10

Roesti Haus Burger from Spatzle (PHP 350)

Serna says: “The burger was tender and flavorful, and the roesti was a hearty mouthful of crisp potatoes with a nice, mushy center. The added egg on the side also rounded out the dish with a rich creaminess. And given that I was sharing this with my date, I found this reasonably priced.”
