A Michelada is a Mexican cocktail made of beer, tomato juice, and hot sauce. Imagine combining a Bloody Mary and a bottle of beer—that’s what you get. It’s both savory and refreshing; and it’s a great way to change up your usual Cerveza (and a good hangover cure).

This michelada recipe is very easy to put together. You don’t even need any fancy cocktail-mixing equipment. It’s best to use Mexican beer for the whole experience. But if you don’t have any, we recommend using a light lager.

Note: We adapted this recipe from “The Essential Cocktail Book: A Complete Guide to Modern Drinks with 150 Recipes” by Megan Krigbaum.
