Merry Moo: An Icy Treat to Tingle the TastebudsMay 28, 2016
It seems only yesterday when we had a dearth of ice cream flavors (then only offered by the most popular names in the business) including—but not limited to—chocolate, vanilla, ube, queso, cookies and cream, rocky road, and double dutch. With a standard set list of flavors, the gallon tubs of ice cream bought from the supermarket were easy enough to choose from. These days however, it’s easy to find over a hundred different tastes and textures on the menu. From savory Beer & Chicharon and Mangga’t Bagoong, to sweet Honey Lavender and Speculoos Cookie Butter—there has been no limit to the crazy, but absolutely delicious, concoctions creamers have been churning out.
Merry Moo has to be one of my all-time favorites out there. I had been a fan since I first tasted their Earl Grey Tea-flavored ice cream at a local food fair. The group has grown since then and has come up with new offers to tingle our tastebuds. The three flavours we got to try out were Avocado, Cheesy Mamon, and Berry Cheesecake.
Merry Moo’s Avocado ice cream, reminiscent of the homemade fruit shakes my family used to prepare, tastes exactly like fresh avocado, with just enough condensed milk to sweeten it up. Cheesy Mamon too takes me back to childhood merienda time. Dotted with real mamon and cheese, this flavor remains uncomplicated and simply delicious, and is definitely a must-try. The Berry Cheesecake tastes as one would expect: like a blueberry cheesecake, sure to satisfy any cheesecake lover’s cold cravings with graham cracker crust bits in the mix.
