KFC Does It Again: Check Out the New Hot & Cheesy ChickenOctober 18, 2015

KFC has always been known for its wild attempts to crazy up their chickens. First came the Double Down, the indulgent range of rice bowls (the ala king is still my personal favorite), the carb-heavy Famous Bowl that combines rice, mashed potato, corn, and signature chicken flooded with their gravy, and now, the Hot & Cheesy, which is, really, our chicken meal of choice at the moment.
A piece of KFC’s mutant-sized spicy fried chicken is laid out on a plate, swimming in a pool of sticky, yellow goop. As unappetizing at it looks, trust me, you’ll get past that in a jiffy as you dig in, mop some of the cheese sauce with the chicken, and pop it into your mouth. The kick from the spice and the salty cheesiness of god-knows-what sauce this is (does it even really contain dairy??) is a triple whammy of Chiz Whiz meets junk food chicken meets fast food nirvana.
It is served with a mushy mound of “Chicken Rice” with the grains glued together (quotation marks are needed, as I really do not know how to identify this dirty carb-filled ball that tastes far from my idea of chicken rice), but carries a flavor that rounds the whole meal together. It also comes with a side of mashed potatoes with gravy and corn, that I believe is best enjoyed with their Wild Berry Iced Tea.
What I like doing—because I believe this is a safe space to share my awful eating habits that will devoid me of any remaining pose I have as a female human being—is to take some chicken (more skin than meat) with a pond of the pasty cheese sauce clinging to it, mix it with the rice, add some of the mashed potato, make sure there is also a significant number of corn kernels in that, add a touch of gravy, mix it all together, and shove it in my hungry mouth. I do not understand how KFC comes up with these chicken ideas, but however they do it (and I think I have a NSFW answer to that), I approve.
