Kermit Siargao Is Making Waves in Manila for Their Oven-Baked Italian Pizza in Their Poblacion Location

September 20, 2018

Gianni Grifoni wears many hats—he’s a resort owner, biologist, dive instructor, clothing brand owner (of the iconic Siargao clothing brand Gwapitos), competitive surfer, and chef. And he’s the pizzaiolo behind Siargao’s famous Kermit Siargao restaurant, the in-house restaurant of the resort under the same name. And he’s finally brought his famous pies to Manila.

What toppings do you like on your pizza?

In the more quiet side of Poblacion in Makati (a couple of blocks behind A-Venue), you will find the comfortable Kermit Manila in a 2-storey house-turned-restaurant. The first floor is an al fresco bar whose walls are decorated with surf-inspired murals, where you can enjoy a Monkey Eagle beer and a smoke. The upstairs leads you to the Gwapitos store, and when you turn left and go through the large door, you’ll find yourself in a large space with a high-ceiling—finally, a place in Poblacion where there is plenty of room to breathe, sit, move, and relax.

A casual pizzeria that evokes the laid-back lifestyle of Siargao.

Bea Osmeña is a healthy-ish eater who is just as likely to take you to a vegan joint as she is to consume a whole cheese pie to herself. A former picky eater, Bea has discovered the joys of savory fruit dishes, but still refuses to accept pineapples on her pizza. On the rare occasion you catch her without food in her mouth, you are likely to find her looking at books she can't afford, hugging trees, or talking to strange animals on the street.
