Japanese Whisky Bar Nomu is a Speakeasy is Hidden Inside a Healthy Matcha Restaurant

December 12, 2018

Nomu is one of BGC’s latest speakeasy concepts, tucked away in a healthy matcha-based restaurant where you would least expect a bar to be hidden. When you push through the door, you find yourself wowed by contemporary Japanese art to the right, and a wall of Japanese whisky across you. And behind the bar you’ll meet bartender Cedric Cello, who has been in the industry for 4 years and worked with cocktail bars Hooch, Smith Butcher & Grill Room, and Ebeneezers.

We love a place that values taste AND presentation.

Cello, who designed the cocktail menu, shows off his creative flair for cocktails by taking classics and twisting them on their heads. If you don’t know what you like, you can tell him what suits your taste and he can either recommend something to you or dream up a cocktail (whether classic or new) just for you. And if cocktails aren’t your thing, you can find whisky, beer and wine here as well. The whole space fits 25 people, and are offering an intro price of 30,000 consumable to rent the space for 4 hours. Not a bad way to ring in the new year.

Bea Osmeña SEE AUTHOR Bea Osmeña

Bea Osmeña is a healthy-ish eater who is just as likely to take you to a vegan joint as she is to consume a whole cheese pie to herself. A former picky eater, Bea has discovered the joys of savory fruit dishes, but still refuses to accept pineapples on her pizza. On the rare occasion you catch her without food in her mouth, you are likely to find her looking at books she can't afford, hugging trees, or talking to strange animals on the street.
