Italian soda is a refreshing drink made of soda water and flavored syrup. You can make it with whatever flavoring you want; and you can even top it off with some cream as some people do. If you don’t have syrup, you can easily make some with equal parts of water and sugar, then a fruit flavor of your choice. But if you’re too lazy to do that—like we were—you can just replace the ingredient with jam.

Fun fact: Although it’s called “Italian soda,” it’s not actually Italian. The drink was invented in the United States by Torani, a San Francisco-based syrup company.
