Good-Looking Servers Who Are Unfortunately Not on the Menu

September 5, 2018

In the food world, presentation is crucial. Remember that Master Chef episode where the contestants had to make tortellini? It seemed superficial that the one with the prettiest navel-shaped pasta was declared the winner. However, it was also revealed that better-formed tortellini cooked more evenly (and thus turned out more delicious) than its not-so-pretty counterparts.

While we here at Pepper.ph don’t exactly advocate judging a dish by its plating, we believe that the sight of beautifully-presented food is the best appetizer. And by presentation, we don’t mean just the fancy truffle garnish on top of your risotto. We’re also referring to the hunky waiter tossing your Caesar salad, or the sexy barista whose milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you some of the most gorgeous servers that can make your dining experience a lot more enjoyable.

1. Brian Villanueva

Server at Cibo, Shangri-la Mall

Breaking the hearts of diners since: 2008

Hobbies/interests: I play badminton and table tennis. I was also a Sepak Takraw varsity scholar in college.

Do customers compliment your looks? How do you respond?: Yes. I just say ‘thank you.’

Tell us about an awkward/embarrassing experience you had while on duty: As a trainee, I spilled some shake on a customer. Aside from apologizing, we offered the person [a] free dessert. I’ve never spilled or dropped any food since the incident.

If you were a food item on the menu, what would you be and why?: The Cibo Spinaci Zola. It’s an effective appetizer, and it’s also one of our bestsellers.

2. Jong Trinidad

Server at Bubba Gump, Greenbelt 3

Breaking the hearts of diners since: November 2012

Hobbies/interests: I love eating pizza! I also read fashion blogs.

Do customers compliment your looks? How do you respond?: They often tell me I should be a flight attendant or a hotel receptionist. But I’m really enjoying my job here, and I think that’s what’s important.

Tell us about an awkward/embarrassing experience you had while on duty: Some customers can get really rude and say nasty things, say, when you mistakenly hear their request. It’s a bit offensive, but I just smile at them.

If you were a food item on the menu, what would you be and why?: Bubba Gump’s That Chocolate Thing. Diners absolutely love it, and would always come back for it. Just like [how] I want them to come back here because of me, because of my smile.

3. Chris Valdenarro

Crew at Dunkin Donuts, Star Mall EDSA

Breaking the hearts of diners since: December 2012

Hobbies/interests: Working out and playing computer games

Do customers compliment your looks? How do you respond?: They tell me I could be either a model or an actor. It’s not that I don’t want to, I’m just really shy.

Tell us about an awkward/embarrassing experience you had while on duty: None, so far.

If you were a food item on the menu, what would you be and why?: The Choco Butternut. Because it’s a huge favorite.

4. Mary Rose Carpio

Barista at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, SM Megamall

Breaking the hearts of diners since: January 2013

Hobbies/interests: I like dining out. My favorite restaurant is the Original Savory.

Do customers compliment your looks? How do you respond?: Yes, they tell me I have a very pleasant and calming demeanor. It’s very humbling, really. I just continue trying to be good at my job.

Tell us about an awkward/embarrassing experience you had while on duty: None, so far.

If you were a food item on the menu, what would you be and why?: Our Caramel Macchiato. It’s balanced. Not too sweet, not too strong. Just like me.

5. Chris Yuzon

Breaking the hearts of diners since: 2009

Hobbies/interests: Working out and playing basketball

Do customers compliment your looks? How do you respond?: They do. They even ask for grooming and fitness tips. I feel flattered and really embarrassed, and just tell them I eat healthy and work out at least four times a week.

Tell us about an awkward/embarrassing experience you had while on duty: A group of gay men asked if they could “take me out,” and if I had other things to offer aside from the food. I told them it was against company policy, and that I wasn’t into that kind of stuff.

If you were a food item on the menu, what would you be and why?: The Mary Grace Hot Chocolate, because it represents the restaurant well. It’s also our bestseller, and it goes with almost anything.

With these head-turners serving your lunch, you might not even notice whether the tortellini on your plate is perfectly-shaped or not. And gape all you want, but don’t mistake your server as the appetizer (or the dessert) that comes with your meal.

Do you know of other good-looking servers who are unfortunately not on the menu?
