Cookie Bar Manila Creates Their Own Cookie Shots as a “Tribute” to Dominique AnselApril 25, 2019

That was quick. When famous New York baker Dominique Ansel unveiled his new cookie shot glasses a little over a week ago, it was only a matter of time before someone replicated them here. Just days after Ansel announced his new creation, around the same time he started selling cookie shots at his own bakery in New York, Cookie Bar Manila started selling their own cookie shots as a “tribute” to Ansel from their store in Kapitolyo, Pasig.
Ansel is a French-born baker who is now based in New York. He is best known as the Father of the Cronut, the “it” food of 2013. At the height of the cronut’s fame, it was replicated locally by everyone from Wildflour to Dunkin Donuts to SM. In an attempt to protect his trademark, Ansel and his legal representatives saw fit to copyright “cronut.” This is why many of its clones were forced to carry a slew of different portmanteaus combining the words croissants and donuts.
With the way cronuts took Metro Manila by storm last year, will this summer be the season of the cookie shot clone wars? Personally, we here at Pepper prefer something with a little more chocolate, wouldn’t you?
