Caldi Drip Coffee Is a Local Brand Borne out of Its Founder’s Re-Discovery of His Love for CoffeeDecember 2, 2019
We’ve seen many people champion coffee as a beverage that transcends its caffeine properties. But for some, it’s even more than that. For Cleo Chianpian, for example, coffee is a source of comfort. His love for coffee began when he started working in the corporate world.
It helped me during those times when I needed to push through at work. Coffee became one of the constant things I loved during my early mornings at work, and it also provided me tranquility during [the] weekends. Coffee was always there for me.
But his passion grew even further after a trip to Japan with his family. He tried several different Japanese cafes, tasting the country’s exquisite coffee. It reminded him of how he’d often turn to coffee for a sense of calm, and he was inspired to bring that same feeling to others.
Cleo founded Caldi Drip Coffee in 2019. It took him months of research—including countless tastings—to create his drip coffee. He sources his beans from Laos, and he packages his products using a process called nitrogen flushing. “Since oxygen makes coffee stale faster, [our packaging suppliers] use nitrogen to flush away the oxygen,ensuring fresher coffee with a better taste and aroma,” he shares.
This instant coffee is pretty much just like brewed coffee, except it doesn’t require any fancy equipment. All you need is hot water to make a cup—ideal for those who want premium-tasting, cafe-level brews without having to wait too long or spend too much. And since it comes sans any other flavoring (we’re looking at you,3-in-1), you can customize it any way you want. That said, Cleo recommends taking it black to appreciate the floral and fruity notes of the coffee.
