Colonel Sanders just announced that he no longer wants to be identified as American in his new hometown, Japan. Therefore, he says, you should now call him “Gurandoh Mastah Sandah.”

In the new regime, his first mandate is the creation of the Double-Down Tonkatsu—the second coming of the infamous Double Down, according to official documents.

Hmmm, this didn’t trigger my gag reflex like the first time I saw the original. Maybe you should add a cheeseburger layer.

    • http://twitter.com/mylenechung Mylene Chung

Really?! hmm maybe adding two more layers of beef patty in between the pork cutlets might work better?XD lol!

Try making your own homemade Tonkatsu sauce! It can be better than bulldog. I don’t know where you can find pomegranate juice here, but if you can find it, here’s my favorite recipe:
    http://www.lafujimama.com/2010/12/tonkatsu-breaded-pork-cutlet-with-a-pomegranate-molasses-tonkatsu-sauce/

This recipe is also great, if you’re looking for a less-sweet variant (and perhaps closer to Bulldog than the Pom-molasses version):

Both are soooo delicious. I like to grind some pork and beef, mix in some of the Tonkatsu sauce, and then cook them on a flat griddle, Shake Shack-style, caramelizing the edges for a nice crusty burger.

Oh wow! That Tonkatsu sauce burger sounds genius!! We’ll add that to the list of ideas for future posts! Thanks for the links as well Lester!:D
