The always-hip People’s Palace has raised the bar on Thai cuisine as presented in Manila, since opening its doors in Malate and relocating to its present home in Greenbelt. Helmed by Chef Colin MacKay of Sala, Sala Bistro, and Blackbird fame, the restaurant serves food that’s always fresh and with flavors that are robust yet balanced between five Thai pillars of sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter. More notably, the quality of the food and service has remained consistent over the years—you can almost always expect a great meal ahead.
The People’s Palace menu offers excellent takes on standard Thai favorites such as pad thai and tom yum—plus an extensive selection of Thai curries that are a must with steaming hot rice, and boozy drinks with a serious punch. Desserts are no mere afterthought here either, with both classics and creative creations that fuse Thai flavors into Western dessert forms—e.g., their Kaffir Lime and Lemongrass Creme Brulee.
