NOOR’s Pistachio-Raspberry Baklava Is Filled with Ground Lamb for a Sweet-Savory Combination

Noor, meaning flame or light in Hebrew, is also the name of the latest Israeli restaurant to hit Manila. Stylized with all-caps, NOOR demands our attention as being one of the few restaurants to represent the young country and the wide variety of influences that have shaped their cuisine.

Main course and dessert in one?

NOOR is by no means traditional, a word that eludes their culinary scene in Israel which takes on many influences. And NOOR in response offers modern Israeli dishes that are surprising and creative. Our favorite dish is the baklava, which is typically dessert (and this version is strewn in pistachios and tahini raspberry jam) but in their version is filled with ground lamb meat for a combination that hits all the notes.
