My Own Ramen is a Stylish Ramen Bar Along the Artsy Mabini Street in Malate

September 2, 2018

Many people are pushing for the revival of Malate as the Metro’s chic district, and we have entrepreneurs like Jerry Cheng, Jr. and Mikee Yu to thank for believing in the district and for creating a restaurant that stands out in both style and taste. My Own Ramen has become a comforting spot for the many Japanese expats in the area. The restaurant is loved for its comforting ramen, of which everything from the broth to the noodles is made from scratch.

Eggs in ramen for life, amirite?

My Own Ramen offers a base tonkotsu ramen that customers can customize from its toppings to the type of pork you want on it, the soup’s richness level to the noodles’ texture. With the technical knowhow of chef Mikee Yu and the business acumen of Jerry Cheng, Jr., the pair run a restaurant worth the drive out to the arsty Mabini Street (where you may as well make a day of it and visit the neighboring galleries too).

Bea Osmeña SEE AUTHOR Bea Osmeña

Bea Osmeña is a healthy-ish eater who is just as likely to take you to a vegan joint as she is to consume a whole cheese pie to herself. A former picky eater, Bea has discovered the joys of savory fruit dishes, but still refuses to accept pineapples on her pizza. On the rare occasion you catch her without food in her mouth, you are likely to find her looking at books she can't afford, hugging trees, or talking to strange animals on the street.
