Lampara is a Beautiful Restaurant in Poblacion that Boasts Neo-Filipino Cuisine with Matching Interiors

Former schoolmates and workmates Prince Tan, Alphonse Sotero, and RJ Ramos dreamed of putting up a restaurant that made Filipino cuisine in a very non-traditional way. After touring a friend, who was visiting from out of town, through all the local Filipino restaurants they knew, they discovered that there could be something more intimate, that makes use of Filipino flavors but presents it in unexpected ways. Thus, they conceptualized Lampara.

They called it Lampara because they aim to shine a light on Filipino flavors.

One such way they managed to do so was through the tanigue steak. They originally wanted to offer a Bistek Tagalog, but found that whatever recipe may taste good but not outstanding enough to not make yourself at home. They wanted to get that taste of home but present it in a new way, and fell in love with the flakiness and juiciness of tanigue, which they say when cooked right can taste like sea bass. Sure enough, the beautifully plated tanigue looks worthy of a few photos on your social media, and elegantly marries the flavors of bistek onto the tasty fish.
