Blue Wonder Coffee Lets You Choose from a Variety of Manual Coffee Methods

October 23, 2018

Blue Wonder Coffee and Bean Roastery is not only a café—it’s a little gallery of coffee-making methods. The kitschy restaurant has walls covered in colorful trinkets and coffee accessories that customers can purchase to make their own brew at home. And it makes sense to offer these as products, given that the café is owned by the same woman who also owns a coffee school (Cooko Academy), whose classrooms and lab are right next to their Pasig branch.

Owned by Soo Yee Chang, who has won barista awards both locally and in her home country of Korea, Blue Wonder Coffee also offers daily 1-hour lessons for home brewers, each day corresponding to a different extraction method, for those who don’t want to do an intensive barista course. We tried it ourselves and controlling the pour is a lot harder than it looks, so for now we’ll stick to ordering our pour-overs from people like Chang who know what they’re doing.

Bea Osmeña SEE AUTHOR Bea Osmeña

Bea Osmeña is a healthy-ish eater who is just as likely to take you to a vegan joint as she is to consume a whole cheese pie to herself. A former picky eater, Bea has discovered the joys of savory fruit dishes, but still refuses to accept pineapples on her pizza. On the rare occasion you catch her without food in her mouth, you are likely to find her looking at books she can't afford, hugging trees, or talking to strange animals on the street.
