A Root Beer Float To Give You The Best Worst Morning After: Root Canal Float

As far as I’m concerned, the best way to drink alcohol is when you let it creep up behind you and knock you over the head for refusing to share. Thus, the mother of all traydor drinks: a mug of root beer spiked with old man’s whiskey, and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A sweet, sweet ride to Hangover City.

Design studio And a Half was kind enough to customize the awesome food art above, as a badge of pride for all who have fallen (and will continue to fall) for these floats for grown-ups. Thanks guys!

Root Canal Float

Yield: 1 mug

Ingredients

  • 1 can root beer, cold
  • 2 shots or more of Jack Daniel’s
  • 1 big scoop of vanilla ice cream

Procedure

  1. In a mug, pour shots of JD whiskey.
  2. Add in root beer and stir for 5 seconds.
  3. Top with vanilla ice cream.
  4. Serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Adjust the amount of alcohol depending on how much of a hit you want from the drink.

I think bacardi black would be better than JD for this one, better flavor combination

Bacardi makes my world spin, but okay, I’ll try. :) This combo tastes like licorice, FYI.

could go great as well with some amaretto and amarula, but simple recipes work best of course. And where’d you get those cohibas? :)

Mmm! I love amaretto by itself, actually, but I imagine it would be quite good with root beer float as well. :) The cigars are from a friend of Kat, whose laway has (hopefully) long dried out of the stubs. ;)

Perfect for the holidays! Maybe I’ll skip the ice cream part, but definitely not the Whiskey.
We looooove Jack Daniels. We even made baby back ribs sauce out of it :D !

I never thought to spike a rootbeer float. I love the idea of this grown up treat! Thanks so much and I can’t wait to try this.

  • Fazool

Or how about using Guinness instead of the root beer?!

    • Henry H. Ford

blech. That would be offensive to floating ice-cream beverages worldwide.

  • Capncoke

I’m gonna try this with Captain Morgan

  • Jeff Nice
